I don’t just advise on AI. I build with it. Every day.

AI Future Edge exists because too many businesses are getting advice from people who’ve never shipped anything. I’ve spent 25 years building digital products and the past 18 months deep inside AI — building real applications, not just talking about them.

The short version

My name is Adam Shallcross. I’m an AI consultant and digital strategist based in Hertfordshire, near St Albans. I run AI Future Edge, an AI consulting business that helps medium-sized UK businesses figure out where AI fits, what to build first, and how to make it actually work inside their operations.

I’m not a career consultant who discovered AI last year. I’ve been building on the web since 1999 and running my own digital consultancy since 2006. Over the past two decades I’ve worked with businesses across financial services, FMCG, healthcare, and the public sector — including names like Shawbrook Bank, Evelyn Partners, and Reckitt. Twenty years of helping organisations make better decisions about technology, and twenty years of learning what actually lands versus what just looks good in a boardroom presentation.

Why AI, and why now

For the past 18 months, I’ve gone deep into AI and automation. Not reading about it. Building with it. Every day I work hands-on with tools like Claude, ChatGPT, custom GPTs, RAG systems, n8n automation workflows, and ML pipelines. I’ve built practice management systems, RAG-powered chat assistants, CRM tools, and ML-powered operational tools — real applications that real businesses use, not demos that never leave a sandbox.

That combination — decades of digital strategy experience plus genuine, current, hands-on AI building — is surprisingly rare. Most AI consultants can do one or the other. They can advise at a strategic level but never touch the tools, or they can write code but have no idea how a medium-sized business actually makes decisions. I do both, and I think that matters.

Why AI Future Edge exists

I kept seeing the same pattern. Medium-sized businesses — companies with 50 to 500 people, real revenue, real operations — who know that AI matters but can’t find someone who gives honest, practical guidance AND builds the thing. The big consultancies charge six figures for a strategy deck and then disappear. The freelance developers build something clever but can’t explain the business case. Nobody was sitting in the middle, doing both, and being straight about what works and what doesn’t.

That’s the gap AI Future Edge fills. Honest advice. Practical builds. No hype. No jargon-heavy reports designed to justify the next engagement. Just clear thinking about where AI fits in your business, followed by real implementation that you can measure.

Beyond the day job

I share what I’m learning publicly. I have over 5,400 followers on LinkedIn, mostly in tech and digital leadership, where I post regularly about AI adoption, automation, and the realities of building with these tools. I also write The Human Vibe Loop, a fortnightly newsletter with over 500 subscribers, sharing real-world AI observations — what’s working, what isn’t, and what medium-sized businesses should actually pay attention to.

Where I’m based

I’m based in Hertfordshire, near St Albans. I work with businesses across St Albans, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Hatfield, Stevenage, London, and UK-wide remotely. Whether you want someone on-site or are happy working over video, the approach is the same: practical, honest, and focused on getting you results.
